DESIGNING YOUR BEDROOM

Naturalelements Symphony Montreal 0235Rt
We’ve all been there, one day we just wake up and decide that its time to decorate our homes, and one of the most relaxing areas of our abodes has to be the bedroom. It’s the place we rest our weary eyes after a long and hard day and the place we wake up in to start a fresh one. Elements London pride ourselves on supplying luxury carpets that can suit any room for any design within your home helping you to define your space. Below you find some useful tips to help get you started on your interior design journey.

1: Budgeting
It is always advisable to set yourself a budget before you start the process of creating your perfect bedroom. The best way to achieve this is to make a list of any materials you will need such as paint, wallpaper, curtains, fabrics, flooring and furniture. You can use this list as a check sheet through the planning stages and add your costings next to them. This process will help you stay within your budget.

2: Space Planning
Get to know the space you are working with. Size can be the deciding factor in creating your dream bedroom. You should always start with a floor plan. Start by drawing a rough diagram on a blank sheet of paper to the shape of your room as if you was looking at it from above. You should also make sure you measure all of the internal walls and crevasses and mark them down in the appropriate area of your diagram. You should also measure all other areas from the ceilings down to the floor and also all windows and door frames. Once this has been done you will be ready to draw up a final diagram with all of the information you’ve gathered.

3: Choosing Colours & Inspiration
The best way to start your planning process is to create a vision. Everyone has a different idea on how they would feel more relaxed in their own homes. A good place to look during the early stages is through some of the social media platforms available such as Pinterest and Instagram. There are many useful posts that contain some great ideas that can be very helpful if you like to keep up with the current colour trends. A couple of hashtags from Instagram that we recommend are #bedroomdecor and #interiorinspo. There are also many sites that will offer samples of materials such as paint colours, carpets, curtains and fabrics so you can start the process of building a mood board for your bedroom. Please feel free to take advantage of our free sample service if you are deciding to opt for a carpet or rug as your bedrooms flooring choice. CLICK HERE
4: Material Planning
This step is where your drawing from stage 2 will become very useful indeed. You will notice that most online sites that sell beds, furniture and curtains will have dimensions of their products in the specification section. This will allow you to make sure you have the space required in your room. Space is the defining factor in your interior design project and there is nothing more annoying than ordering something that doesn’t fit.

5: Bringing your Creation to Life
So you have chosen your colours, materials, flooring and furniture. Now it’s time to bring your vision to life. The first rule of this phase is not to order everything at once. There is nothing worse than having your new bed or wardrobe delivered when you are halfway through having your flooring fitted. The first step is to make sure you have any electrical or plumbing work done first. The next phase is to get your room painted and decorated followed by having your flooring installed. Please bear in mind that all paintwork should be completely dried before the flooring process. Then we would advise that you have your curtains or blinds installed before you can move onto placing your furniture and accessories.

And that’s it! Hopefully these simple and effective steps have helped you to create your perfect bedroom.
